Exercise

Barbell Row to Hip

A horizontal pulling pattern used to train the upper back and lats while the elbows travel behind the torso.

Technique

01

Aim the elbows toward the hips instead of pulling the bar toward the upper chest.

02

Create a stable torso position before starting the pull.

03

Let the shoulder blades reach naturally at the start when the variation allows it.

04

Drive the elbows back rather than curling the weight with the hands.

05

Finish without turning the rep into a shrug.

06

Control the return and keep the range repeatable.
